The Opal Kelly XEM5010 is a new integration module based on a XC5VLX50 Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA. In addition to a high gate-count, high-performance FPGA, the XEM5010 utilizes the high transfer rate of USB 2.0 for configuration downloads, enabling an almost instant reprogramming of the FPGA.

FrontPanel Application and API

Opal Kelly's FrontPanel software interface is an easy-to-use, robust API for communication, configuration, and interfacing to your PC. FrontPanel handles all the interaction between your software and the FPGA internals, dramatically reducing the time and effort required to interface to a design.

Prototyping and OEM Integration

The XEM5010 is ideally suited for product prototyping and integration into OEM devices where a USB interface, flexible hardware solution, or PC software interface would be useful. The XEM5010 can easily be added to a new board design to provide turnkey USB integration with the convenience of Opal Kelly's software programmer's interface and existing USB drivers.

Xilinx WebPack Support

The Virtex-5 device on the XEM5010 is fully-supported by the latest Xilinx WebPack toolchain (free!).

256 MiB DDR2 SDRAM

Two completely independent 128-MByte DDR2 SDRAMs are great for high-performance applications where separate memory busses are required. Total memory bandwidth is 2.128-GB/s or 17.024-Gb/s.

32 Mb SPI Serial Flash

An 32-Mbit SPI Serial Flash device is included for non-volatile storage of both FPGA configuration and post-configuration data.

 

36 Mb Synchronous SRAM

A wide-bus (36-bit), 1Mx36 SSRAM is directly connected to the FPGA for high-speed, synchronous, static storage.

High-Efficiency Power

The XEM5010 includes high-efficiency switching power supplies for the FPGA and support devices, reducing your design burden and project timeline.
